State Federation Profile
Zan Bunn was installed as NCFRW President on November 9, 2013.
The North Carolina Federation of Republican Women affiliated with the NFRW in 1953 and Celebrated our 60th Anniversary in 2013. NCFRW aggressively worked for Victory in 2012 and NC elected a Republican Governor & Lt. Governor. Our hard work to win the majority in 2010 resulted in a Republican Majority now serving in the Legislature. FINALLY, The Photo ID Voter Bill was signed into law by Governor McCrory. Our Federation submitted resolutions in support of School Choice & opposing Common Core.
NCFRW has five regions and 58 clubs. Our goal is to inform, educate and train our members to be Grassroots Activists and candidates. We hosted a NFRW Campaign Management School on August 24 in Raleigh with 65 attendees. Our web site helps provide members across our state with the resources to be effective leaders. View the "Why I Vote Republican" video on our website.
NCFRW established a scholarship in 1991 funded by personal contributions (501(c)3) to assist teachers across our state to honor our former first lady, Dottie Martin. The Dottie Martin Teachers Scholarship Fund supports future educators with a minimum $500 scholarship annually.
We have a Caring for America scholarship for military families of those who have been injured or were killed since 9/11 and this year our Statewide Americanism Essay for middle schoolers this year was about "What the Bill of Rights Means to Me" with a $750 prize.

Zan got involved in politics in college, inspired by President Ronald Reagan's love of country. Most recently, she was elected as President of the NC Federation of Republican Women (NCFRW) in 2013. Previously, she served two terms as Capital Region VP. She served three terms as Wake RW President and one term as First VP. She also served as Chair of NCFRW Committees: Membership Research & Recruitment, GOTV and New Media Committees. She has served on the NFRW Legislative and Bylaws Committees.
In the North Carolina Republican Party, Zan currently serves as Chair of the 13th Congressional District; she previously served as Chair of the 4th District. She's been an elected member of the state Executive and Central Committees for many years, as well as Delegate/Alternate to 2004, 2008, and 2012 Republican National Conventions. She has served many times on NCGOP convention committees. She has long-served in her local county party, from volunteer to precinct secretary to supporting GOP clubs. In both RW and in NCGOP, Zan has volunteered for scores of candidates, especially judges. In 2013, Zan was awarded the J. E. Broyhill Award, the highest statewide award bestowed upon an individual for lifetime grassroots activism.
As a lifelong Republican and native of the Triangle, 2012's GOP victories in NC were most satisfying. In her professional life, Zan does consulting, mainly computer training and computer consulting, and is a skilled and professional presenter in the Triangle area/Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill. Her alma mater is Meredith College where she earned a BA in History/Political Science in 1985 and remains a class agent. She's a lifetime member of the NRA. Her niece (named Reagan) lives nearby and loves late-night Krispy Kreme runs when political meetings don't last too long.
